I have several Gmail boxes, plus an Apps one with a domain. Easy to check and get notified about emails in FF. Very sad it is now broken. I didn't find yet an alternative.

I did the fix, and then Windows did an update today breaking it. Uninstalled todays updates and now it works. Windows security patches are breaking it...

Up until a few days ago this worked great. Now gmail addresses fail to log in. Google apps domain email addresses still work correctly, but no email hosted on the gmail.com domain is currently accessible via this add-on. Update this add-on please, as it is by far my favorite gmail utility.

This add-on is great, always has been a wonderful addition to Firefox up until a few days ago. Every time I open my browser (on every computer I use Firefox and Gmail Manager), it continues to pop up a window for me to add my e-mail and password, even though I've had it stored for months. And of course, when I click "okay", it pops right back up. I'm going to uninstall this until it's fixed, it's a shame... this was a great add-on.

This used to be an awesome gmail plugin for Firefox. But recently I haven't been able to login and there doesn't seem to be any progress towards an update.

I forgot to change the rating to 5 from default 1. My mistake. Sorry.

CAZWICK: Thankyou! thankyou! thankyou!
Used your fix and manager now working. A nice easy solution for someone like me who is computer useless. (I tried the earlier suggestions regarding the zipping of the xpi file, but my PC (Vista) wouldn't let me do this.
Blehhh. Thank you Mr Gates.

This is a brilliant app for Gmail and I have used it for a long time, and apart from the occasional bleep when it breaks, it has run faultlessly
The author has done a fantastic job on this app, and deserves a lot of credit - it's not his fault if Firefox is constantly shifting.

This is a solid extension I've been using for years and other than the occasional hiccup (usually due to back end Google changes) it has worked flawlessly.

With this last break I only lost connectivity to my regular Gmail accounts and not my hosted ones. I went through variations of all the manual fixes listed here (I'm not downloading XPI's from strangers) and could only get one half or the other working, but never both hosted and regular Gmail.

Finally, I scrutinized the instructions and compiled a list of what worked for me. It's about the same as the other fixes yet DOES NOT change the URL for the Hosted accounts. This was done on a Win7 64-bit machine running FF6.02. Here you go:

1. Browse to C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\A RANDOM CODE IS HERE.default\extensions\

2. Locate the file {582195F5-92E7-40a0-A127-DB71295901D7}.xpi, rename it to {582195F5-92E7-40a0-A127-DB71295901D7}.zip and extract the files to a temporary location.

3. Open the components folder, look for the file gmServiceGmail.js and use a text editor to modify this 1 line:

loginURL = "https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLoginAuth";

should be changed to:

loginURL = "https://accounts.google.com/accounts/ServiceLoginAuth?service=mail";

4. Save the file, overwrite the existing gmServiceGmail.js

5. Open the file install.rdf with a text editor and change the line:

<em:maxVersion>4.0.*</em:maxVersion>

to

<em:maxVersion>6.0.*</em:maxVersion>

6. Save the file, overwrite the existing install.rdf.

7. Rezip all files you extracted in step 2 and name it {582195F5-92E7-40a0-A127-DB71295901D7}.xpi

8. Replace the old {582195F5-92E7-40a0-A127-DB71295901D7}.xpi for the 1 you just adjusted and restart FireFox

Addon works again for hosted and normal Gmail accounts <<

Thank you, Alex. Fixed the login failure problem for me on my Power Mac G5 running FF 3.6.22. This is a five-star add-on—when it works. Too bad Gmail is such a moving target.

This fix works also in Firefox on linux. File to modify, "gmServiceGmail.js", should be in /home/<user>/.mozilla/firefox/<strangethings>.default/extensions/<morestrangethings>/components/

Trax, thanks for fix solution :-)

1] Browse to: C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\gryfs2ob.default\extensions\{582195F5-92E7-40a0-A127-DB71295901D7}\components

2] finally open "gmServiceGmail.js" with notepad

3] edit those 2 lines below:

loginURL = "https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLoginAuth";

should be changed to:

loginURL = "https://accounts.google.com/accounts/ServiceLoginAuth?service=mail";

and:

loginURL = "https://www.google.com/a/" + this.domain + "/LoginAction2";

should be changed to:

loginURL = "https://accounts.google.com/a/"+ar[1]+"/LoginAction2?service=mail";

4] save "gmServiceGmail.js" restart FireFox and your Gmail manager accounts should be working correctly.

I have made this change to 6 XP computers so far each have 4 gmail accounts and they all function correctly.

Thanks once again to divrsit for posting this fix.

This add-on seemed quite nice, as it allowed me to check several accounts at the same time.
It worked well for about a week. But since a few days ago it just stopped logging into the accounts, even though the passwords are correct, and I can login to accounts manually just fine.
I am not interested in finding how to fix it. I want something that works. So out with Gmail Manager.

I just intalled CAZWICKs fix. Works fine with FF6.0.2, as soon as my browser restarted the addon connected and displayed the number of unread messages. Cheers!
