Today suddenly FireFox 6.0.2 on Mac OSX 10.6.8 had become the same problem...
Because I managed to solve it on a WinXP PC I tried my luck in OSX and it worked. :-)
In OSX you can find the needed file in:
\User (your name) \Library\Application support\FireFox\Profiles\RANDOM CODE HERE.default\Extentions\{582195F5-92E7-40a0-A127-DB71295901D7}.xpi

Further the solution is the same for Win and OSX.

Great add-on, thanks to the developer.

Thank you @divrsit for the initial fix then to @nexusroot for the second fix. It is working now.

So originally when this broke a few days ago I did Xander/Divirsit's fix and it seemed to work good. However earlier today I noticed that it stopped letting me left click on the user account and correctly pull up the gmail mailbox in a new tab. It would always redirect me to the gmail login page instead of auto logging in like it always did.. I ended up modifying the link in gmServiceGmail.js as follows:

this._loginURL = "https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLoginAuth";
should be changed to this
this._loginURL = "https://accounts.google.com/ServiceLoginAuth";

After I changed that I can now click on a mailbox from gmail manager and it launch the mailbox fully logged in like usual. If anyone else started having this same problem today try the above change, hopefully it works..

I'm hoping the dev picks back up this add-on or maybe we'll have to repackage it and release it soon under a different name.

Thanks to you guys who try to make this thing work again.
After doing what Fryguy said I get no errors when starting Firefox, but then again I can't see Gmail tab anywhere. It's nowhere to be found!

Any clues on this problem? If I cant see it i cant use it :(

God, I miss this extension.

Divrsit and Xander's fixes worked great for my non-hosted Gmail accounts, but then broke my hosted accounts. Below are all the steps combining both of their fixes, plus my fix, to make it work for everything.

1. Browse to C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\A RANDOM CODE IS HERE.default\extensions\
2. Locate the file {582195F5-92E7-40a0-A127-DB71295901D7}.xpi, rename it to {582195F5-92E7-40a0-A127-DB71295901D7}.zip and extract the files to a temporary location.
3. Open the components folder, look for the file gmServiceGmail.js and use a text editor to modify these 2 lines:
this._loginURL = "https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLoginAuth";
should be changed to this
this._loginURL = "https://accounts.google.com/accounts/ServiceLoginAuth?service=mail";

this._loginURL = "https://www.google.com/a/" + this.domain + "/LoginAction2";
should be changed to this
this._loginURL = "https://mail.google.com/a/" + this.domain + "/LoginAction2?service=mail";
4. Save the file, overwrite the existing gmServiceGmail.js
5. Open the file install.rdf with a text editor and change the line:
<em:maxVersion>4.0.*</em:maxVersion>
to
<em:maxVersion>6.0.*</em:maxVersion>
6. Save the file, overwrite the existing install.rdf.
7. Rezip all files you extracted in step 2 and name it {582195F5-92E7-40a0-A127-DB71295901D7}.xpi
8. Replace the old {582195F5-92E7-40a0-A127-DB71295901D7}.xpi for the 1 you just adjusted and restart FireFox

This is a great add-on, ufortunately, the original author has stopped updating it. It's not working with new FF & new GMail. Could someone please update this?

This add-on has not been fixed. 100 + students at a local university have had this add-on fail using ff 6.0.2. Better, faster support is critical.

I don't think the author abandoned the software. It just takes him a while to update.

The fix worked just fine for me, but ever since installing it, I have to re-login to each account every time I close and then re-open my browser. Previously, once I logged into all my accounts using the "switch accounts" gmail feature, I remained logged in until I manually logged out. I'm glad that the add-on has been fixed and is working in general, but a fix to this particular feature would be greatly appreciated.

@Ral - what is his website, so that I can stay up-to-date?

Thanks!

the modification works on win ultimate, but none of the available modifications works on windows professional.
big shame for Firefox creators that they are stil not capable to solve to neverending problems with this great add-on (create own, similar, or be tolerant when making FF upgrades), I'm so exhausted with this that I feel its time for Chrome.

I tried xander's fix but every time I exit firefox, copy the new xpi into my extensions directory, and restart firefox, the extension I just copied in gets deleted. Am I missing something?

Thanks to those who made the fixes to this awesome add-on. Why blame the original author of this add-on when it was Google that 'broke' it?And, to all screamers... you can download the .xpi and fix it yourself.
And to the screamers... how much did you pay for the add-on?

I am giving this 4 starts because I can't give it 5 stars if the developer does not provide support any longer. "alexthomas" patch works perfectly, I just hope he is trustworthy and not stealing my passwords haha. But for real, it sucks having to rely on third party patches for something as sensitive as email accounts.
