Since a hard drive crash I see how this can really help you lose all of the work that went into it. No synchronization between computers (I use XMarks) and does not integrate with your current FF bookmarks at all. Nice start, but a little more work needs to to into this to be a tool to rely on. Thus I will not be reinstalling.

Speed Dial still far from replacing native FF bookmarking function. Furthermore it's abnormal to bookmark in two places when SD lacks serious bookmarking functions like:
1. no FF bookmarking integratoin(syncronizatoin)
2. no searching tool
3. no ration-sorting (tagging,rating) function.
other offers:
1. most used tab (optional)
2. online backup

Small fix for those who see dials stop to update (yes, works for FF 18.0a1 x64 too). Go into Speed Dial options, make backup if none (Speed Dial settings - Actions - Export Dials, Settings and so on). Next step: uninstall Speed Dial, restart browser, install Speed Dial, go to Speed Dial options and import previously saved backup (Speed Dial options - Actions - Import Settings). Voila - it works.
upd.: looks like 'one time help' action - dials updates only when 'Import Settings' performing. Not a fix at all.

默认9个网址框太少了，起码12个吧。而且背景图片也应该可以更改的，就像傲游3和360浏览器那样。

I'd like to +1 the numbers of people for whom this is THE essential FF add-on. I highly recommend it.
I was desperately looking for an Opera-like speed dial ever since I started using Firefox and we've been inseparable since :)
I've found a fix for FF15. The problem is the Speed Dial isn't loading on a new tab, and this can be fixed by visiting about:config and searching for the browser.newtab.url tag. This needs to be se to the speed dial address: chrome://speeddial/content/speeddial.xul

Very good addition! I use it for more than 3 years.! BUT! Recently, a new Firefox was strange to work! The problem is manifested in the work of flash player! Had to switch to Chrome! But all add speed dial in chrome, a poor excuse! Do you plan to write add-on for Chrome? Thank you again!

On Firefox 15, I got a trouble, when I want to import settings, or when I try to export it, unexpectly the browser is going down, it doesn´t matter how many tries to do, all the time is the same and never recover my last settings, can you give any help? Thanks a lot.

После обновления до firefox 15 вместо спид диал стала запускаться экспресс панель от firfox. Переустановка дополнения проблему не решила. Решил следующим способом:
1) в адрессной строке набераем about:config
2) в строке поиска конфига пишем newtab
3) кликаем по значению browser.newtab.url
4) меняем значение на chrome://speeddial/content/

Three years now i use this addon without any problem.I have it as my homepage and as a new tab page.It loads all the images(logos) at once without any delay.It's also very customizable.This is my favorite addon of all and i give it 5 stars because there is no option to give it 20!
Do not listen to negative or neutral reviews by users that have messed up their browser.This addon works perfectly and i never had any problem with the updates.

Works great... except for the weather links. It looks like iGoogle is no longer providing the proper weather info to parse. Perhaps a different provider could be utilized.
Also, I have a future improvement request. Could you add a way to temporarily disable the background downloading. It would be nice to be able to temporarily suspend all the background downloading that speed dial is doing when I need the bandwidth for something else or when I'm utilizing private browsing mode (as some sites get messed up without cookies). Perhaps a button to be able to toggle the background downloading off would help.

I'm using Firefox 14.0.1 and my Speed Dial just updated to 0.9.6.9 but it still doesn't work. My newly opened tabs are still a blank white page.
This addon worked great for previous versions of Firefox but I haven't been able to get it to work since Firefox updated to version 14.
I tried the "about:config" suggestions from a previous post by "polocanada" but it didn't change my results.
What can I try to get Speed Dial to work with my Firefox 14.0.1?

I'm happy when I saw new version that fix favicon problem in your website. But I have to downgrade to 0.9.6.8 because 'Successfully Update' page didn't keep its promise of showing up only once, and say hello to me everytime I launch Firefox.
Edit: I update to 0.9.6.9 again and edit setting in about:config to stop update page but I have found some kind of restore back up bug. Speed Dial will restore its back up everytime I quit firefox. The missing thumbnail is missing everytime I relaunch browser. Worst thing is I can't edit any link or setting because Speed Dial will revert it back after quit. I try to remove and reinstall delete back up in profile folder, restore default setting, and edit link in about:config but none of it work. Some how Speed Dial manage to restore everything even when I restore default setting and remove it, all setting still left in about:config and I can't delete it. I try to downgrade to earlier version but nothing change.
Fortunately, I have back up Profile folder from before I mess up with Speed Dial. Right now everything is fine, except the favicon.
Edit 2: Afte rrestore back up Profile folder, I experiment upgarde to 0.9.6.9 again. Now I can edit all link and setting and no update page show up every time I launch firefox anymore! What's all happen to me?

Great add on. Although, for some reason I have trouble opening up speeddials of two digits ending in zero. For example, when I want to open up my Pinterest (my speed dial 20) in a new tab, I'll hold Ctrl+Shift and press 2 followed by 0... BUT only .2 shows up on my screen, and I'm directed to my speed dial 2 (in my case, Gmail). Same thing happens with my speeddial 10.
Other than that, it's fantastic!

I've seen a few people asking how to get the Speedial working again. Here are instructions how to do it:
Firefox introduced new feature called Top Sites. It is probably a 1st version of this and I hope this will be updated later on to allow more flexibility. Right now this feature interferes with Speed Dial.
To get it working:
1. go to "about:config"
2. go to browser.newtab.url
3. you can change the "about:newtab" to "about:blank" or "about:home" or... that's what we want.. change it to do SpeedDial local custom page which is "chrome://speeddial/content/speeddial.xul"
4. Now it should work again.
Actually I find TopSites to be well implemented but for someone who is accustomed to flexibility it won't replace SpeedDial.
Plus there is another added benefit right now. I have 3 computers and I synchronize (Sugarsync) the SpeedDial settings file SDBackups with all 3 computer (macs and pc) and I get all of them display same speed dial (I have to do import export in Speedial but other than that it works).
I suspect TopSites will be included in Firefox Sync so I may take a look at it again. Right now TopSites is not flexible enough.

since 8/10/2012, I update my firefox 17 nightly, speddial don't work, thumbnail not update never to now...

Was working...now it's not not....after the last Speed Dial update.
Works on Windows 7 but not on Mac.
Was forced to go with FVD Speed Dial...which is pretty darn good.
To create your own collections, you must have a Mozilla Add-ons account.
