Great addon!
Be aware that it does not have an 'icon' (as describe on this site).
You should add the button 'spellcheck' on toolbar to use it.
** But it is freezing firefox when I try to remove the icon, when I to drag the icon back from addon toolbar to 'customize' window **
(Firefox 13 / Ubuntu 12.04)

Very useful with Firefox. But NOT working on Thunderbird 12.0.1

This add-on allows to quickly switch between the various installed spell-checking dictionaries.
In my case, I often type English or French messages, and Firefox chooses the language depending on the settings of the site, which sometime are incorrect or just not suited to the moment.
Dictionary Switcher is able to detect what language you use after a few words (probably trying the dictionary raising the fewest errors...) and if that's not enough, it allows to set it by a single left click on the toolbar icon (going to the next language, good if you have few dictionaries) or a right-click (showing a menu to choose quickly what you need).
It doesn't seem much, but it saves time when you have a big context menu and you search the Language item, then select the right one.
Side note: it can also be useful when you want to use the same dialect than the one used in the site you are, ie. if you have, for example, installed British, Australian and US dictionaries, or in French classical French vs. reformed one.

I love dictionary switcher because I switch between many different international sites, because it works even on dev channels and because it just helped me write this review!

Very good extensión.
Is possible add a shortcut to switch the dictionary?
Thanks
(I´m Sorry, I not found support link for report new features.)

Unfortunately auto language switching doesn't work since Thunderbird 8 on Windows and it makes Thunderbird not responding. After a while it is possible to stop the script via the TB dialog. I had to disable the it. Can you please fix this again?

Very useful, and almost transparent.
I would have given this add-on 5 stars if it wouldn't make my Thunderbird v10 crashed around 10-20% of the time.
Languages used: fr ("built-in" Thunderbird) and en-US ("United States English Spellchecker" module)

Firefox 10.0.2 - v.1.3.2 doesn't remember my choice for dictionaries for sites.
Thunderbird 10.0.2 - v.1.3.2 is not shown in the Compose window.
This version still doesn't work as it should.
Hello,
I left a contact address at AMO, why didn't you use it?
I basically look at the reviews page once in a blue moon so you can't expect that anything you post there will be fixed (besides, it's not intended as a means to report bugs). At least you gave us 5 stars, thank you for that.

Thanks very much for this add-on. Was a real pain in the neck to change the global settings for every mail that was written in another language!! The autodetect doesn't work for me either (thdbd 3.1.18) but doesn't really matter as you can switch the language manually within the email.
Cheers :-)

Works like a charm with my "Deutsches Wörterbuch (de-DE), alte Rechtschreibung" Add-on. https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/deutsch-alte-rechtschreibung/

Works good, as advertised. However auto-detecting dictionaries based on what I type, never worked for me properly. Sometimes it kicks in, sometimes it doesn't.
Otherwise, a very handy add-on!

Azur22 and Zipias have told us how to get it to work by customizing. Could you please publish a screenshot? When I try to customize, I can't find a spell-checker icon. Or is that because the spell-checker is already visible? I need a toggle button. (Note I installed the compatibility checker already.)

Absolutely great addon! Have been using it for years and am delighted that the status bar issue has been resolved.

Solution Status bar:
Just right clic on statusbar and choose personalize, then see "spell checking" or "en-US" and drag him to the statusbar...then you have it, like old times again ;)

This tool was working well, and I like it, but when I installed it on a new computer, it no longer displays the current language at the bottom.
Windows 7 64 bit, all updates, Firefox 6.0.2.

In the "more" page it appears an image with some options, ie: Detect dictionary as I type, Auto-detec locales and Remember dictionary for current site. It took me a couple of days to find them at last:
Right click on the Dictionary Switcher button that you previously added to add-on bar (see MarkaPola comment)
